Perennial Park has expanded our partnership with Dr. Peter Lichtenberg, PhD, ABPP at Wayne State University. Staff members have been using Older Adult Nest Egg survey’s when completing in-home assessments as a tool to help prevent clients from being victims of financial exploitation and determine their risk score for the future.
Successful Aging thru Financial Empowerment (SAFE) program is an assistance program that focuses on individuals recovering from fraud and protecting yourself in the future. Some of those things include contacting creditors, closing accounts, disputing information on your credit report, filing police reports/consumer reports, and placing alerts on your credit report. The SAFE program provides this assistance for individuals at no cost to them.
The programs were developed to empower the older population, provide education to advocate for themselves and provide additional resources for support. Maribeth, SAFE program case manager will be at Perennial Park on Wednesdays from 9am to 3pm. If you would like further information or need help recovering from identity theft or fraud, please give us a call at (517) 437-2422 or (800) 479-3348 to speak with Maribeth Kaltz.
