Assistive Technology Class

Come to Perennial Park on Tuesdays in May from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. to learn about devices and aids that can make you life a little easier.  Please call or stop by the front desk to register!

 

  • May 2: small changes BIG DIFFERENCES - A hands-on workshop that demonstrates low- tech, low-cost devices to help everyone live safely and independently.

 

  • May 9: Home Monitoring for Safety - an introduction to technology that helps people stay safe when alone in their homes.

 

  • May 16: Learn to Use Smartphones and Tablets - a basic introduction for beginners that covers terminology, and overview of equipment, and using the devices. Bring your own device or use one provided for hands-on practice.

 

  • May 23: Controlling Your Home - A look at some of the options to make controlling devices in your home easier.

Successful completion of the course may even help participants qualify for auto insurance discounts.

 

Cost: $15 for AARP members / $20 for non-members.

Prevention of Elder Abuse & Neglect Expo

Informative workshops and agency/vendor displays related to the safety and well-being of seniors. A mini Food Expo will also be served from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and will take the place of our regular Congregate Lunch today. Door prizes too! The event is FREE and intended for seniors, caregivers, family members, advocates, and anyone who cares for and about seniors. Made possible by a grant from Region 2 Area Agency on Aging.
